QA / Technical Manager

The Role:

As QA/ Technical Manager you will manage the Technical, QA and Process Development functions on site; acting as champion and guardian of quality and food standards, upholding the technical integrity of the site across aspects of food safety and legality and ensuring compliance to customer policy and quality systems.

You'll be the key customer contact for all Technical and QA issues, making sure that the company's products are of a consistently high technical and quality standard for customers and their consumers. You'll also drive best practice and implement new technology and solutions to enable the site to support the ongoing growth of the business.

Looking for a Technical or QA Manager from a chilled food manufacturing environment with a track record of leadership and knowledge of food hygiene regulations. Your skill set will encompass BRC, QMS and retailer COPs. You'll also need to have experience of delivering to the exacting requirements of major retailers and building sound customer relationships.

Role Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage the technical and process development function on site
• Provide sound technical advice to ensure that products are made safely and to the highest quality standards
•  Provide support with technical trouble-shooting, providing technical expertise and insight to resolve the problem with minimal disruption to the business
• Coach and develop staff ensuring the necessary resources/training are in place to meet KPI's and business targets
• Assist in improving performance, achieving business objectives and continuous improvement
• Identify and implement Best Practice and new technology within the technical function to help facilitate business improvements
• Support Continuous improvement in Good Manufacturing Practice
• Complete the above within the necessary constraints determined by Health and Safety and Environmental considerations
  

Key Experience and Skills Required:

• Degree in Food Science or related subject
• Proven experience in applicable food industry role at QA Manager or above
• Experience in manufacture of chilled or frozen foods
• Thorough knowledge of BRC/retailer Quality Management Systems/Codes of Practise essential
• Experience gained in a continuous improvement enviroment
• Strong communication and influencing skills
• Able to build and maintain effective customer relationships both internally and externally
