Technical Manager

The Role:

A leading food processing company in the North East is currently recruiting for the position of Technical Manager to join their team. Reporting to the Managing Director the successful candidate will report on the performance of the QMS and work with the Operations Manager to coordinate operational quality efficiency improvements.

Role Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be required to carry out the following tasks:

• Responsibility for overall quality and food safety within the company
• Generate regular KPI reports for the management team
• Planning the achievement of commercial goals from a Technical perspective & maintaining due diligence
• Investigating and improving any non-conformances raised through third party, customer or internal audits
• Responsible for completion and accuracy of customer product specifications and product compliance
• Management of NPD including reformulation projects
• Ensure compliance BRC and Tesco standards are met and to maintained
• Oversee and provide direction and training to the Quality Team
• With the support of the management team to create and maintain a culture of development and continuous improvement within the organisation
• Training: responsible for establishing and implementing training through employee training needs analysis across all departments
• Responsible for the management of the onsite Laboratory Technician, with the objective to achieving laboratory accreditation within the next 12 months
• Establish and maintain relationship with onsite Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine officials

Knowledge and Skills Required:

• Degree in Food Science or equivalent
• Previous Technical or Quality experience at managerial level in the food industry
• Possess extensive knowledge regarding food safety systems and relevant regulations
• HACCP and auditing qualification is essential, accuracy and attention to detail is vital
• Proven analytical skills and problem solving skills
• Proven management experience of a QA Team
• Excellent communication skills with ability to communicate at all levels within the organisation
• A self-motivated individual who is results orientated with the ability to meet deadlines
• Meat experience desirable but not essential
