Stores Coordinator

Role Purpose:
To Coordinate the stores and distribution department efficiently and effectively, with a pro-active and hands on approach to daily operations within the department, resolving any issues in a timely manner ensuring minimal or no disruption to customer and site operations. Assist with the overall operation of the Stores Department in relation to maintaining and improving systems, Quality, Safety and Environmental standards.
Role Responsibilities:
- Support the Stores Manager and Lead Stores Co-ordinator with regular & open communication, supporting the operation of the stores department, escalating issues and providing options to resolve any issues.
- Build positive relationships with other departments and teams
- Maintain strong lines of communication with Suppliers and third party storage contacts ensuring all issues are logged, escalated where necessary to the appropriate stakeholders and resolved through non-conformance reporting system.
- Ensure timely procurement of products and goods to meet business demand.
- Track, monitor hauliers and supplier performance and service levels and raise any concerns to relevant stakeholders
- Coordinating and planning transport for all inbound and outbound deliveries, managing the shipping routes to third party cold stores and customers.
- Process customer sales orders from third party stores.
- Raise awareness to all relevant stakeholders of any potential issues with customer sales orders and raw materials to meet operational and customer demand
- Assist in continuous department improvement projects and contribute to supplier reviews where appropriate
- Assist in updating departmental KPI reports, resolving and reporting any issues in a timely manner.
- Ensure the correct handling and storage of chilled, frozen and ambient goods
- Ensure that quality related documentation is correctly maintained and issues are identified and acted upon accordingly
- Drive and support a positive Health and Safety culture within the department where H&S is given equal priority with all other activities
Qualifications and Training:
- Numeracy and literacy sufficient to maintain accurate and legible records and to understand the significance of numerical data and communicate effectively in writing
- IT literate in Microsoft packages and able to demonstrate use of Excel spreadsheets
- Formal qualification or accredited training in any of the following:
- Supervisory Management
- Stock Management / Logistics
- Food Science / Technology field
- Previous experience in a manufacturing environment and supply chain role with evidence of consistent achievement of targets
- Previous experience of team leadership and supervision
- Working knowledge of stock control / purchasing systems
- Experience in report compilation
- Knowledge of computerised stock management systems
- Able to demonstrate knowledge of how safe working practices are applied in the Stores environment
- Able to demonstrate knowledge of Quality Assurance/ Environmental systems in relation to Stores environment
- Working knowledge of SAP stock management system / SAP purchasing system
- Able to display initiative and apply problem solving skills
- Strong organisation and planning skills with ability to prioritise and use resources effectively
- Ability to work to time deadlines
- Ability to communicate key data in a clear and concise manner
- Self-motivated
- Teamwork oriented with leadership capability
- Attention to detail
- Flexible working shifts and hours
- Adaptable to short & long term change
