Laboratory Technician - Food Industry

A Leading Food Business, based in Co. Longford, is seeking a Laboratory Technician to join their team!
The Laboratory Technician is a key member of the R&D Team, involved in the day to day running of the on-site laboratory.
Reporting to the Development & Innovation Manager.
Full-time, permanent position.
Working hours: Monday to Thursday 9.15am to 5.30pm, Friday 9.15am to 4.30pm
Salary is negotiable, depending on experience.
3.5% pension contribution, death in service and income protection is provided.
Role:
- Ensure the laboratory operates efficiently in line with G.L.P and is audit ready.
- Responsible for the daily chemical testing of raw materials and finished product as per schedule.
- Responsible for mineral analysis (monthly basis) Calcium, Phosphorous, Sodium.
- Responsible for carrying out species testing on selected materials.
- Responsible for the physical testing of intermediate products per Batch.
- Responsible for the daily testing of effluent and reporting results.
- Responsible for the weekly testing of boiler water and reporting results.
- Responsible for the sourcing and purchasing of laboratory materials and equipment. Maintenance of adequate stocks at all times.
- Involved in the installation and calibration of new equipment in the laboratory.
- Liaise with departmental colleagues on current development projects.
- Preparation and circulation of analytical reports trended and analyzed.
- Trending and reporting of out of spec results for both finished product and raw materials.
Requirements:
- Third Level Qualification in Food, Science or related discipline and experience of working in a laboratory.
- Microsoft Office knowledge (Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), experience of document control system and quality information system, with a strong emphasis on data interpretation.
- The ability to work independently or collaboratively as part of a cross functional team.
- Be highly customer focused and possess the necessary communication, interpersonal and organisational skills
- Be innovative, willing, and engaged in ongoing training on new processes & operations.
- Good Problem Solving & Decision-Making Skills.
- Must be flexible with a willingness to adapt to change. A “Can Do” attitude.
